Rotarian Cynthia Mwila is a seasoned Banking professional with twenty years’ experience in Banking and Financial Services both in the UK and Zambia.

Rtn. Cynthia is currently the Head Banking and Mortgage Sales at the Zambia National Building Society, having recently joined after ten years at Standard Chartered Bank Zambia where she worked in various leadership roles and previously, at the Royal Bank of Scotland in London.

Rtn. Cynthia holds an MBA from the University of Leicester and a Bachelor of Laws LLB (Hons) from De Montfort University in Leicester and also holds certification as a Mortgage Practitioner and Financial Adviser in the UK, having obtained the Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP) UK and Financial Planning Certificate (FPC), UK.

Rtn. Cynthia is an advocate for affordable housing, appearing at various forums to drive collaboration and initiatives across the sector as well as sensitizing the public in Mortgage Financing through ZNBS. She has a passion for driving Corporate Social Responsibility through Mentorship (in particular youth and women) and Financial Literacy Education programmes and it is this passion that led her to join the Rotary Club of Lusaka in October 2017.

Rtn. Cynthia is proud to have served as Club Treasurer in 2018-19 and 2019-20 and looks forward to serving as Director of Fundraising in the Rotary year 2020-21.

ROTARIAN KAFULA MWICHE BIO
IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT 2021/2022

Rotarian Kafula Mwiche is an experienced Legal Practitioner with over 19 years practicing experience, in both the public and private sectors. He is a Chevening Scholar who holds a Master of Laws Degree LL.M (International Business) from the University of Manchester; a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B); and a Bachelor of Arts Degree BA from the University of Zambia. Upon admission to the Zambian Bar, Rtn. Kafula was in private practice with the Firm Sharpe & Howard Legal Practitioners before moving to the Energy Regulation Board where he served as Legal Counsel. Rtn. Kafula then went on to join one of Zambia’s flagship Financial Services Group, Madison Financial Services PLC where he served as Group Legal Counsel and Company Secretary from 2008-2020. Rtn. Kafula has also served on a number of Boards both for profit and nonprofit. He is the sitting Vice Chairman of the Zambia Center for Communication Programs and Vice Chairman of Action Africa Help Zambia. He also serves on the Board of Action Africa Help International.

Rtn. Kafula serves as a Commissioner of the Anti- Corruption Commission. He has played an active role in the leadership of the Law Association of Zambia where he served as a Council member for over 10 years rising the position of Treasurer, a post he held between 2010 -2013.

Rotarian Kafula has a passion to serve the underprivileged and has done so through his membership with Round Table International and currently the Rotary Club of Lusaka. He is an ardent long distance social runner and has participated in a number of acclaimed marathons both at home and abroad.

ROTARIAN TUPELO NAKANTHULEKO SIBALE BIO
CLUB SECRETARY

Tupelo Sibale is an ardent writer and author of two best-selling novels, ‘Between Two Worlds’ and its sequel ‘Borders Beyond Africa’. She has also written two screenplays, ‘Borders Beyond America – The Hijacked Mission’, and its sequel, ‘Borders Beyond America – The Oman Ordeal’. Founder and Executive Director of Kids Hope Foundation; a Child Refugee based Organization established to provide assistance to refugee children below the age of 12 living with HIV/AIDS and unaccompanied minors.

Holder of Two Masters in Philosophy of Human Rights Law and Peace and Security Studies both from the University of Lusaka and a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Management from Notre Dame University in Australia. Tupelo has also pursued various Advanced Studies in Diplomatic Practice, Protocol and Public Relations from Zambia Institute for Diplomacy and International Studies, Transport Systems for Landlocked and Developing Countries in Beijing – China, Children’s Rights in Africa and the African Human Rights Systems in Comparative Perspectives from the Human Rights Centre at the University of Pretoria.

Her field interests are Children’s Rights, Humanitarian Assistance and Refugees, Peace and Security, Women Empowerment, Rural Development and Poverty Alleviation.

Enjoys travel, gardening, writing and reading assorted literature; married with three children.

ROTARIAN TAMBALA MUYAWALA BIO
DIRECTOR OF YOUTH AND NEW GENERATION

Rtn. Tambala Muyawala joined Rotary Club of Lusaka in December 2014. He served as Responsible officer (2015-2017) on the Mwachisompola Agricentre Project Chisamba in partnership with Belgian clubs Rotary Club of Louvain La Neuve and Rotary Club of Durant; as Club Secretary (2016 – 2018) and from September 2018 – June 2019. He has participated in various committees including Community Services (Service Projects), Fundraising, Youth and New generation, Membership and Club administration, Public Relations (Image) and Rotary Foundation.

Rtn. Tambala is a Logistics, Transport and Supply Chain professional and holds an MBA. Besides community service, he is also passionate about farming, motoring, travel, music, sport and technology. He is married with
a son and lives in Buckley Estate, Makeni, Lusaka.

ROTARIAN JUSTINE MAZHANDU
DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION

 

Rotarian Justine Mazhandu is in Transport and Marketing. He is the Director at Mazhandu family Bus Services Ltd, one of the Leading Passenger Transporter which has inspired many Zambians and beyond.

Rotarian Justine has been with this company from 1989 and has worked hard to bring it to where it is today.

Rtn. Justine is Chair of two boards; ICT Ladders and Families are nations. He sits on the transport board for transport sub-committee of the central committee.

Rtn. Justine Mazhandu holds a BA in Business from the University of Zambia (CBU) and a Diploma in Marketing from The Evelyn Hone College of applied arts. He has several certificates of achievements from various courses in business that he has been awarded over the years.

Rotarian Justine joined the Rotary Club of Lusaka in 2011 and has served in different leadership roles from day one to mention key ones; as the Club President and Assistant Governor. Currently, Rtn. Justine serves as a Board of Directors for the Club in the capacity of New Generation Director where he supervises the Rotaract and interact clubs under the club.

Over the past 27 years he has assisted a multitude of institutions (profit and non-profit, governments and private, local and international) to achieve their varied objectives. Rtn. Mabvuto says… ‘’I am self-driven, self-reliant, collaborative and I ride on interpersonal skills to engage, motivate and encourage others through change”.

Rotarian Mabvuto has a Bachelor of Accountancy, an MBA in Finance and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is a committed Christian and has held various offices of responsibility in the United Church of Zambia from Congregation to Synod courts superintending over a diversity of activities ranging from day-to-day and change management, treasury and fund mobilization.

Rotarian Mabvuto joined the Rotary International family on 11th May 2010 in the Rotary Club of Lusaka and has since served as Raffle Master, Director of Community Services (before and after serving as Club President), Club President in 2012/2013, and Club Trainer for 4 consecutive years. At District 9210 level, he has served as member of the Discon 2014 Organising Committee, Treasurer for Discon 2018, Organising Chairperson for Discon 2020 and Assistant Governor for three consecutive Rotary Years ended 2019/2020. He is now serving as the District Scholarships Sub Committee Chair (2020-2021). Rotarian Mabvuto is currently a PHF+6.

Rotarian Goliath Mungonge is a known journalist and print media strategist. He holds a postgraduate in media studies and business. He is an Assistant Governor for District 9210 where he is responsible for three clubs in Lusaka. He is the current Rotary Club of Lusaka Sergeant-At-Arms (SAA).

Rtn. Goliath has more than 12 years in Rotary, is a Rotary Club of Lusaka Past President and has served in various committees including directorship for Public Relations and fundraising.

Wendy is a Quantity Surveyor by profession and a registered Engineer with more than 18 years’ experience in the public sector. She has skills in Construction Governance, Corporate Communications, Stakeholder Engagement, Occupational Health, Safety and Environment, promoting of Best Practice and Capacity Building in the Construction Industry.

For 7 years, she was country manager for a multi stakeholder donor funded project on Construction governance called the Construction Sector Transparency initiative (CoST) funded by World Bank and DFID till the successful completion of the pilot project where a baseline study on construction transparency and assurance reports where done.

Currently she is one of the Directors of the National Council for Construction and the first female Principal of the Construction School. She has served as a monitoring and compliance specialist, public relations officer, a journalist and a project quantity surveyor.

She also has served on various committees such as the Affirmative Action Programme for Youth Empowerment in the Transport and Construction Sector, the Construction Standards Development Technical Committee, Pensions and Trustees Committee, the Energy and Infrastructure Committee of the Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Committee Member of the Zambia Institute of Quantity Surveyors and Director in Charge of Public Image for Rotary Club of Lusaka. Recently appointed to sit on the Engineering Institute of Zambia Disciplinary Committee and currently serving as the Secretary of the Education and Training Committee of the NCC Board.
