THE ROTARY CLUB OF LUSAKA VISITS THE NATIONAL HEART HOSPITAL
On 17 December 2025, members of the Rotary Club of Lusaka visited the National Heart Hospital to explore collaboration aimed at improving cardiac care and healthcare access, especially for marginalized communities and to strengthen community health initiatives.
Now in its fourth year, the hospital is a specialised cardiac referral centre serving Zambia and the wider Southern Region. The 150-bed facility, with a 25-bed Cardiac ICU and 135 medical staff, has performed 125 open-heart surgeries in 2024 and 135 in 2025 to date.
Beyond surgeries, the hospital leads outreach, early detection and preventative programmes, bringing life-saving services to communities and improving cardiac health outcomes across the region. Its mission, “Your Heart, Our Hands”, reflects a commitment to excellence, compassion, and hope.
Guided by Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self,” the visit also reinforced a shared dedication to stronger partnerships, healthier hearts, and lasting impact.
As we approach the festive season, we encourage everyone to find ways to give back, support local healthcare initiatives, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.
From our hearts to yours, we wish you a joyful Christmas and a New Year filled with good health, hope and the power to make a lasting impact.
